We are a niche “family” business with a wealth of knowledge gained from over 45 years in the heating industry both in the manufacture of our own Wagener Fireplaces and the design and manufacture of “Lion” wet backs. The company began with Leon Kernot (Grandad), and has been grown and developed by Barry Kernot & Ngaire McClure (Mum & Dad who have recently retired) and is now in the capable and energised hands of the 3rd generation Troy Kernot, Kyle McClure and Adam Kernot. Wagener Stoves has a solid history and we have planned for a stable and strong future ahead. We are committed to producing quality New Zealand Made products that will stand the test of time and be serviceable for years to come. We have a strong belief that by using New Zealand produced Steel in the construction of our fireboxes not only does it make them superior to the imported mass produced ones that many popular brands have to offer but also reduces the carbon footprint v's international shipping and handling so please support NZ Made.
Wagener is the home of New Zealand designed and manufactured Fairburn a slow combustion Woodrange Cooker, the Butler Multi high performance hot water heater, CookTop Wagener Stove, the cute wee Wagener Sparky, big brother Leon and little twin sisters Sparky CA (Clear Air approved) & Sparky RU (Rural woodburner) along with the addition Pipi RU in 2024 (Rural woodburner). Pipi is the smallest member of the family and on board to meet the changing and growing needs of heating for small spaces and the Tiny House market.
In 2025 Troy Kernot turned his hand towards his first fireplace design and after 9 months of R&D Flair was born. She is designed for modern Kiwi homes giving a heat output fitting perfectly in-between Sparky & Leon. Flair CA is a Clear Air Approved woodburner and Flair RU being a Rural woodburner. We are proud to see the continuation and evolution of the Wagener brand.
We also operate a retail heating showroom for our local area offering fires and accessories along with knowledgeable advice and support.
A network of dealers throughout the country are available to help you with all your Wagener Stoves requirements from supply of our products & accessories through to installation and our family team are always available to offer additional help and support.
